Luther L. Lockard is a Nationally Certified Massage & professional bodyworker which includes the integrated services of Massage, Reflexology, Craniosacral Therapy, Reiki, Therapeutic Touch, Healing Touch, Advanced Pranic Healing and other energy based modalities. Luther has over 1100 hours of professional training in Swedish massage reflexology, and energy based healing modalities bodywork.
These massage styles are packaged as integrated tools geared for specific results. Luther’s massage and bodywork focuses on improving muscle and soft tissue dysfunction and imbalances that result from emotional, mental and physical stress. Luther’s bodywork styles are geared to facilitate healing of mind/body/spirit according to a person’s individual needs.
“The Relaxation Response” massage is geared to ease general tension and distortion in muscle tissue, increase circulation, and increase flexibility in joints. This techniques uses classic Swedish movements. $60/hr.
“Neuromuscular Therapy Techniques” - this technique involves postural assessment and soft tissue manipulation. Postural distortions may indicate imbalances in the tone of structural muscles and can be an indicator of chronic stress patterns. Techniques used include stroking, trigger point work, skin rolling and a variety of stretching activities.. $75/1.5/hr.
“Deep Touch Therapy” massage uses several Swedish massage movements in addition to English and German massage strokes and techniques to help break-up and reduce scar tissues and adhesions formed by sports injuries, accidents , surgery, & contracted muscles. This form of massage is also good for muscles with trigger points, muscles that are too short or weak and chronic sprain and strains. $75/1.5 hr.
“Balancing Mind & Body Spirit” massage is an over the clothes massage using a variety of deep touch, traction, and joint movements combined with clearing and cleansing the human energy field. This often leaves people in a deep relaxed trance state where the body can begin reset itself and use it’s initiate intelligence to reintegrate mind body and spirit. $60/hr.
“Reflexology” relax from the inside out. Reflexology works on the principle that are reflexes in the hands and feet that correspond to all of the organs, glands and parts of the body. The benefits are to reduce stress, promote better circulation and improve nerve impulses. It is said that 75% of all illness and disease stem fro uncontrolled long term stress. . Foot and hand reflexology is a valuable tool for reducing stress. $60/hr
“Hurry up and Relax” massage uses the seated chair which is easily adapted for 15-20 minute massages for the neck shoulders, back , arms and legs. This technique uses a combination of deep touch over accupressure meridians to stimulate and clear chi (energy) and Swedish massage movements to ease tense muscles. $20/15 minute session.
“Upper Extremity Treatment” - this focus on the neck, shoulders, upper back, arms & hands. This treatment is good for the over-stressed muscles that often occur from occupational and recreational activities. Computer work, assembly work, manual labor, housework, sports activities often cause muscle shortening or overstretching that leave you sore and achy. $60/hr.
“Off-Site Corporate ( Seated Chair) Massage - Luther has an 18 year background in Occupational Safety and Health where he earned the Professional designations of: Associate in Risk Management, Associate in Loss Control Management, and Associate in Management. This background gives Luther a diverse knowledge and insight into the understanding of the stresses many work related exposures, hazards, and issues which may contribute to the stress and health of people associated with their occupations.
Accumulated tension and stress drains energy and vitality. Corporate massage can help rejuvenate workers and make them more productive. These stresses often result in work place accidents and/or soft tissue and muscle weakness and dysfunction. corporate Massage is an inexpensive way to promote wellness, ease tension and improve productivity. $350 full day (8 hour day). $200 half day (4 hours).
Experiences
Luther has practiced his reflexology and energy work modalities since 1997 and massage bodywork since 1998. Luther currently teaches Massage at the Massage Therapy Program (Division of PSB). Luther also operates a private practice of bodywork and educational seminars in Reflexology and energy work.
Education
Luther has a BBA Marketing from the University of Memphis (previously Memphis State University, 1976). Luther studied Therapeutic Massage Techniques at The Massage Therapy Program (Philadelphia School of Massage). Luther studied Reflexology with The Center for Universal and Holistic Studies, New Jersey Institute for Reflexology, and the International Institute for Reflexology.
