Chapter 0 Technology Origin of MA(TM)

The essence of Traditional Chinese Medicine is the accumulation of thousands of years of clinical practice. However, Western Medicine is based on the study of bacteriology, immunology and anatomy. Their aims of maintaining human health are the same, though their developmental history and modes of medical treatment are very different.

A friend of mine engaging in Western Medicine has told me that he would not know how to diagnose without his stethoscope. This wording may be overstated, but we can see how various instruments can help the doctors diagnose, and the biochemistry test data can help the doctors differentiate the doubtful points in Western Medicine. The diagnosis of Western Medicine is based on making the best of various instruments to collect physiological information in order to decrease error. This practical, realistic and scientific spirit accords with the requirement of modern people for medical treatment technology.

Traditional Chinese Medicine continually exhibits its amazing therapeutic effect on many so-called “incurable” diseases in Western Medicine in recent years. Many people who were doubtful of Chinese Medicine are being attracted now. They are trying to find the scientific basis of Chinese Medicine. The study of Chinese Acupuncture and Meridian theory based on electronics has acquired marked achievement.

In 1949, a research group headed by a professor and dean of the biology department in Kyoto University found that the abnormality or disease  can be reflected in the change of biological electric current. They have tested the reactive value in the bio-electro logical experiment. Furthermore, they verified the data with traditional Chinese Meridian theory and found that the theory that disease was related to the Yuan Point of Twelve Regular Meridian accords with the results. After further study, they released their results in 1957. This is the famous theory-Ryodoraku Theory.

This marked the first time the so-called Meridian Phenomenon was sampled in a clinic on a large scaled basis and validated by means of biology, anatomy, electro logy, and modern medicine worldwide. All the result from the study is systematically analyzed, which were verified by modern medicine clinically and compared with Traditional Chinese Medicine. This can discard the familiar  non-scientific data disposal, which is to learn the traditional medicine first and then find the similar in modern medicine. During the study, the essence of traditional Chinese medicine was presented by means of data and systematization.

With the development of Ryodoraku Theory, more and more people engaging in modern medicine started researching the relationship between electrology and the Meridian. They not only released new research continuously, but have also increased the inosculation of Ryodoraku Theory with modern energy medicine, Acupuncture and Meridian diagnosis.

The application of Ryodoraku Theory has become a trend in the Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine in the past 40 years. More and more medical institutions have taken part in the study and application of Ryodoraku Theory. Institutions all over the world share the results with one another.

This theory was introduced by Mr. Lai Phong-Gia 20 years ago for the first time and applied in Taiwan. He wrote a series of books to introduce this scientific Meridian diagnosis and treatment theory to the people. Many patients have benefited from this in the past 20 years. The General Hospital of Army and China Medicine College has carried out a series of studies on Ryodoraku Theory and electric acupuncture.

MA(TM) series is exact by the instruments for professional medical treatment. The series include the database on Ryodoraku Theory combined with the latest computer technology and clinical experiences over a long period of time. You can acquire the physiological data on the body meridian energy and excess or deficiency syndrome by the operation mode with the humanization interface after short learning.

Long-time clinical practice have shown that doctors can make more exact diagnosis than before by comparison of the analysis and differentiation data supplied by the device with their clinical experience. The device can help you make diagnosis and treatment as soon as the disease appears. According to past experiences, you can learn the operation mode of this device soon and finish the measurement and analysis of the patient’s body energy after short training, though you might learn the meridian energy diagnosis and treatment for the first time.

Though the MA(TM) can supply exact physiological information and analysis table or figure for your clinical application, your experience and wisdom, and acquaintance with the device are the key to exact differentiation. So we suggest that you do not replace man-made differentiation with any device completely. The exact device must be dependent on your experience and skilled operation to bring into play.

Please read this manual in detail before using this device. The MA(TM) series must help you increase the accuracy and degree of reliability in differentiation and will be your best helper.

In the medicine field, Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine have their own characteristics respectively. With the study on meridian energy in Western Medicine and the application of instruments in Chinese Medicine, now these two schools of medicine are absorbing and assimilating their excellence from each other, a result we are glad to see. We make this device with the latest technology from Japan and Germany. Now, together with our staff of computer software and hardware specialists as well as Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine experts, are proud to contribute this device to all the people working hard for human health in the hope that we can try ourselves to attain for the computerization of meridian energy medicine.

hapter 1 A Brief Introduction to and the Composition of MA(TM)

1-1 The Composition of the System

The third generation of MA(TM) (Meridian Analysis ) is a device for medical diagnosis. The composition includes the frame and the system operation software.

In the frame part, we apply the connection of RS-232 standard interface with the personal computer. This can make the best of the property that personal computer is produced with large quantity and easy maintenance. This can also lower the cost of the device and increase the flexibility of its application. No matter what type of computer you use, the desktop PC or notebook PC, you can always install the device easily. The hardware has passed every safety inspection and anti-interference test. For international use, the device also has good adaptability to various climates such as multi variant insular climate with high damp environment or dry continental climate.

In the system operation software, we apply the humanization interface with the up-to-date Windows Operation System. You can use the functions of this device with the most simple and humanization operation mode. All the functions except for inputting the patient’s data with the keyboard can be operated with the mouse. In the internationalization of operation language, we have finished the complex Chinese character version, simplified Chinese character version and English version. We are going to write the Japanese version and German version.

Because the electric current the device uses for measurement is smaller than the electric current that the human body can feel, the patient’s meridian energy data can be collected non-invasively and the patient will not feel it. This device has no side effects to the human body. For further safety to the human body and the stability of the device, the device is created with a loop guard circuit. When you start up various functions, you will see the indicator of Sensitivity on the instrument panel flash, signaling that the guard circuit has started up normally. When you end the measurement function, the guard circuit will block the probe from the device automatically in order to prevent problems caused by any wrong action and will not affect the safety and stability.

This device mainly measures the 24 preventative points of Twelve Regular Meridian and collects the physiological data on every meridian energy, which we call the exciting degree of meridian. Then the computer will analyze the patient’s physiological status and list abundant graphs and analyze data by screen or the printer. The measurement time will not exceed 3 seconds and it will take about 3 minutes to make a whole body measurement.

1-2 Minimum System Requirements

The following are the basic requirements of software and hardware for the normal functioning of this device. Please make sure that your computer conforms to this device before installing. If there are any problems, please contact your dealer or our client service department. You can also show the requirements to the computer supplier and require that the computer he supplies will conform to the following requirements to avoid faulty functioning of the device due to the hardware.

Specification of Computer Hardware

1.   IBM PC or compatible, Intel 586-133 CPU or above, 32 Megabytes RAM or above, 1.44 Megabytes disk Drive, CD-ROM Drive, at least 20 Mega bytes of free hard disk space, and 15 inch or above color monitor, mouse, keyboard.

2.   Windows 95/ 98/ME or windows NT4.0/2000 or later.

3.   Printer supporting Windows Operation System (Optional but recommended.)

4.   MA(TM) uses the RS-232 serial interface in the computer, so you should ensure that there is at least one RS-232 interface to connect in your computer. The common computer has at least 2 or more RS-232 interfaces, but perhaps other interfaces such as mouse, data unit, digital camera, etc. have occupied this interface, so you cannot connect MA(TM). You’d better ensure this interface first.

5.   The Monitor must support mode of 800×600 resolution6.      256 colors, because this is the lowest resolution that the system operation software of this device sets. Some old notebook PC might not support this mode.

7.   The Monitor display mode we suggest is : 1024768 resolution8.    256 colors or above, select small font, 15 inch or above monitor. If your monitor is smaller than 15 inch, we recommend maintaining the 800×600 resolution display mode.

The printer can be monochrome or color. Because this device supports color printing, we suggest you buy a color printer. Additionally, you should pay attention to the printing speed. If you want to increase the printing speed, we suggest you select a laser printer. But common laser printers mainly support monochrome tasks, so we suggest you select high speed color ink-jet printers to save cost and increase practicability.

If you set the font or change the size in the display mode, the display location will be wrong during the system operation. This will affect the visual sense though it will not affect the operation function.

Chapter 3 Startup and Shut Down

3-1 Start up the Meridian Energy Analysis Device

Please turn on the power of the computer and the MA(TM). The program after the power of MA(TM) is turned on is: 1. The indicators of Power and Sensitivity all flash. 2. All the indicators except the power indicator go out.  3. The device makes a sound. This sound means the normal operation of the device. The device has not started up if you have not heard the normal prompt sound after turning on the device. Then you have to check the power source or think of other reasons.

You don’t need to shut down the power source of the device after use although there is an independent power source switch in the device, because the power source of the device and the keyboard of the computer are in series.

When the computer starts up successfully, enter the Windows system, click StartProgram MAProE, MA100E or MA20E on the bottom of the screen with the mouse to run the system software.

Now you have started up the MA(TM). In the constitution, the printer has an independent power source. The MA(TM) and the screen has a series power source switch (some desktop computers have independent on-off mode). We suggest you turn on the MA(TM) and printer first, and then turn on the computer, though the order of turning the power source will not affect the function of the device. If your screen source power is connected to the computer, the screen switch needs to be kept on at all times in order to keep the linkage with the frame.

When you start up the MA(TM), the system will test the linkage status of the frame and the computer as well as the property of the device frame (see the graph). Here your device is linked with the computer and has started up correctly. If there is any problem with the link or the MA(TM), information of caution and processing method will appear in this window until the problem is settled.

If there is any problem at this step, please check if the wire of your device frame power source is linked well, if the indicator of the power source is lighted, if the device made a normal sound as starting up, if the link of the device and the computer are correct, and then think over other reasons.

If the device cannot start up normally or link with the computer, please contact your device supplier or our client service department. We will find the problem and supply the solution for you.

When the system displays the following main menu, the device has finished the test and can serve you. (There are some differences between the main menus of MA-100 and MA-20).

3-2 A Brief introduction of main functions

There are a total of six main function options and six shortcut keys in this menu that we call the main menu. The six options are as follows.

1.   Meridian measurement (whole series), this is the main function of the MA(TM) and supplies you the functions of measuring the 24 representative point of the meridians, collecting, saving, analyzing, modifying, and printing the related data for diagnosis and differentiation. It also supplies the management of the basic data and case history of the patient.

2.   Energy comparison (ME-Pro), this function supplies multiple case history comparison. You can use this function to load one to six case histories and display this data in one graph to analyze them.

3.   Point Locate (ME-Pro), you can use the probe to locate the specific point correctly by computer analysis. You can also use this function to find the good conducting reactive point in every meridian.

4.   Meridian Data (whole series), this function supplies you a Twelve Regular Meridian graph which includes the location of the representative points, the name of Five-Shu-Point so that you can refer to them in clinical practice. In ME-Pro and ME-100 series, this menu supplies a general table of differentiation data which includes general tables of single meridian differentiation, prescription and combination, diet and regime, good conducting differentiation and so on. You can possess more complete information for differentiation when you make differentiation and explanation in clinical practice.

5.   System Support, this function includes setting of specialist therapy by the user (MA-Pro,

MA-100, MA-20), setting of user’s basic data, data import and export and so on. The most important function is the automatic calibration system which can keep the accuracy of the device and control the error of your device in a range of 0.5%. You can move the mouse pointer to the bottom of the screen and click the functions you want to perform with the left key of the mouse.

6.   About the version, it supplies the information, the serial number of the version for follow-up update service.

The layout of shortcut keys is to separate the more important or commonly used functions so that you can start up these functions rapidly. We will explain other functions in detail in the follow-up chapters.

3-3 Shut Down the System

When you want to exit the system, please abide by the following directions to perform correct steps for shutting down the system. Some databases are opened while running the system, shutting down the power source directly will affect the completeness of the data of the device and the Windows system. Please exit the performance of this device function before turning off the power source of the computer. When you do not want to run Windows system, please shut it down in the order of the normal steps. The steps are as follows.

2.   Devices such as large color TV set, electric heater, motor, daylight lamp or reading lamp, large electric fan, pesticide lamp, air conditioner, magnetic bed, anion cushion, large transformer and so on should be put over 1 meter away from the MA(TM) to prevent the interference of environmental electric fields.

3.   Please leave a space of at least 10 cm for heat elimination behind the Computer frame. Don’t put files or other things on the louver of the Computer monitor to avoid damage of the computer because of bad heat elimination.

4.   Don’t put the device in damp environment or sunlit place in order to keep the stability of the device.

5.   Don’t put the computer and the device in damp environment such as the basement. If you cannot avoid this, you should install an air conditioner or a moisture separator.

6.   The environment for measurement should be clean, bright, non-oppressing sensation, non-off flavor and quiet to avoid pollution on the measurement result because of the change of the patient’s emotion.

4-2 Requirements for the Patient

1.   Don’t drink alcohol or coffee or take medicine (soporific and such) and drugs for adjusting nerves, otherwise, the result will be affected. The abnormality of eating and sleep will be reflected in the result.

2.   Measure at least one hour after meal; otherwise the result will be affected.

3.   Rest for one hour to start the measurement after active sports such as swimming, calisthenics, running and so on.

4.   Rest for over 15 minutes to start the measurement after the patient arrives at the clinic.

5.   Because perspiration or dampness of the hands and the feet will affect the conductibility of the skin, avoid starting the measurement at this time.

6.   All the metal things on the body especially on the hands and the feet such as watch, finger ring, necklace, glasses and so on should be taken off to avoid affecting the result.

7.   The body cannot touch the ground, wall and desk or chair made of metal. The feet should depart from the ground over 5 cm and be blocked up with insulating matters such as plastic chair. It’d better not be taken place by wood matters. If the isolation is not good, the device might not start up to collect meridian data.

8.   The points can be wiped clean with alcohol because alcohol has volatility and can clear the lipid and water off the skin to assure measurement quality.

4-3 Requirements for the Operator

1.   The operator cannot touch the ground or wall barefoot in order to avoid the interference when the hand holds the probe. When the device tests the interference due to bad isolation, it will pause collecting data. You will find the probe out of action, so you should remove your feet from the ground or wear gumshoes or avoid touching the cementing wall with some parts of the body.

2.   You should avoid touching the skin of the patient after touching the patient with the probe until the probe is moved away.

3.   Measuring excitement degree of every point should be finished one time after affirming the point. The dampness degree will increase with the measurement in the same degree repeatedly. Additionally, the excitement degree of the autonomic nerve at this point will be increased by the stimulation of the electric current. These two reasons can cause the increase of the measurement value and make errors.

In other words, repeated measurement of one point will be of no sense in the whole body differentiation.

Of course, you can measure all the meridians repeatedly and then record the data. For example, measure every one point 3 times, give up the first and the second data and record the third data. The accuracy and stability of the measurement will be improved theoretically, because the dampness of the skin and the excitement degree of the meridian will be stable with the increasing of the measurement times. According to the clinical report, the dampness of the skin and the excitement of the meridian will be stable after measuring repeatedly 5 times running.

4.   Measurement of 24 meridians should be finished as soon as possible. If it is necessary to measure the meridians of whole body again, the measurement should be started at least 15 to 30 minutes later. It is the shortest time that will allow for the skin dampness and meridian excitement degree to recover.

5.   Talking with the patient should be avoided as much as possible to keep his emotion still.

4-4 The Preparative Action for the Inductor

The inductor includes the probe and the handle. The groove of the probe should be stuffed with cotton tightly. You can use a metal rod or screwdriver to stuff the cotton tightly. The cotton should be 0.2 cm higher than the end of the probe. Use physiological salt solution or tap water with 1% salt to wet the cotton. Squeeze the cotton with the thumb a little after the cotton absorbs the water enough so that the water can’t seep to the skin.

The other end of the probe is a metal round head, which is used for the point locating system. Put the moist cotton on the point while measuring and don’t press it at full tilt. Put the probe on the point with its own weight.

Let the patient hold the handle part of the probe after the hands are wetted with salt water in order to increase the closeness of the skin and the handle to decrease the errors because of the change of the grip. You should tell the patient grasp the hand with moderate grip. Don’t change hands in order to avoid affecting the accuracy because of the change of measurement conditions.

The reason of using wet probe head is to avoid the errors because of sweat of the patient. Additionally, the cotton is of damping property so that it can prevent the errors due to the force change of the probe touching the skin effectively. So the cotton must be 2 mm higher than the probe end.

According to clinical experience, if the cotton has not been stuffed tightly, or has not been stuffed enough to the bottom of the probe groove, the measurement result will be unstable so that the accuracy will be affected. This is a common problem for most of the users.

The salt water can increase the electrical conductivity of the surface layer of the skin so that we can acquire the meridian energy data under the surface layer. Don’t replace the salt water with tap water or other water such as distilled water used in the hospital or else errors of measurement will be generated.

Some doctors are used to pressing the point to locate the point, but according to clinical experience, this press action will stimulate the points and the data will be increased a little. Please pay attention to the mode of point location. And if you have this action, please decrease the press force to avoid over stimulating the point and affecting the data collecting.

During the measurement, no matter which hands the patient uses to grasp the handle, it is the only requirement that the patient do not change the hand, because once the hand is changed, the condition will alter and the accuracy will be affected.

4-5 The Calibration of the Device

When you use this device for the first time, please remember to go to the system support function to select automatic calibration to adjust the accuracy of the device. Otherwise, the error of the measurement data will be uncertain. Please refer to the detailed explanation for automatic calibration system in this manual.

If you use this device without performing the calibration, the measurement data will be not accurate due to the affection of the temperature, dampness, electric field and so on.

The calibration function is important for an exact device. Only with correct performing of the calibration function can the subjective data avoid be affected by environmental factors.

Some devices claim need no calibration but in fact there are fixed data to compensate for the measurement data. There is no obvious use for the changing environmental factors. The data will some degree of unavoidable errors due to the changing environment factors.

Please abide to the normal steps to perform the calibration function for the subjective requirement.

Chapter 5 Diagnosis of Meridian

This function, which you must have practice of, is the most important function of this device. It can collect, save, analyze and print the data of 24 representative points of Twelve Regular Meridian, and it can also query and modify the case history. Detailed operating mode and functions are described as follows.

5-1 Start Meridian Measurement

You can click to select meridian Measurement using the mouse when all preparative actions have been done. The normal measurement order is the palm of the left hand-the back of the left hand-the palm of the right hand-the back of the right hand-the medial of the left foot--the lateral of the left foot-the medial of the right foot---the lateral of the right foot. You can see the prompt of the name and location of the measurement point on the screen. The measurement date and time will be recorded automatically. If you want to change the order of the measurement or measure some points repeatedly, you can click the columns in Meridian Energy Value. You can also use  in the keyboard to change the point. Of course, the system can detect the processing of measurement and hint the operator to change the point. Generally speaking, the system will send out five median points to express the process and one alt to express the end of the measurement, at the same time a gauge and an indicator light can indicate the process of the measurement program. The operator can run the measurement at the pointed order without pressing any key.

If you remove the probe before finishing the measurement of a point, the system will give up the collected data and wait for you to touch the point with the probe again.

When you finish the measurement of the 24 points orderly, the system will shut down the measurement window automatically and exit the measurement function. If you want to pause or end the measurement function, you can click the Stop button and restart your measurement later.

No matter whether there is any case history on the screen when you start the measurement, the new data will replace the old data. So you can save the old case, then measure one or several meridians and save or analyze the new case after refreshing the previous data.

Setting of Measurement Potential (MA-Pro, MA-100, MA-20)

According to the theory of good conducting meridian, if the patient is tested under the condition of low potential, because of his different constitution, the average meridian value would be too small (often smaller than 12), which could cause difficulty in differentiating the deficiency or excess syndrome. Under this condition we can use high potential to test, which is a new extended method of good conducting meridian.

This amplified method is used for the severe patient or the patient whose meridian energy is too low. This method is an important function of this device and certifies that this device can always be relied on to offer the related data under various clinical problems.

The data resolution of this device is higher than 1/4000 and the data can be amplified automatically according to the size of the data in order to analyze the data clearly. So you can also acquire a powerful ability to analyze the data when you set standard potential to analyze a lower reactive value. Though this device can set high potential or standard potential mode, we suggest that the user keep the device in standard potential mode and not change the potential unless the ratio of the meridian can not make you to differentiate the deficiency or excess syndrome.

Another reason for this suggestion is that the results of study on the good conducting meridian are based on the measurement with standard potential all over the world (such as Japan, America, Germany, Russia, Canada, France and so on). Please keep the mode of standard potential unless you want to engage in medical study or there is a practical requirement. Because all the analysis modes can not be used in the amplified mode, once you select the high potential mode (amplified measurement), the data should be used in the reference of location of a single meridian.

The amplified measurement is a most important function in meridian energy medicine because it can offer reliable data under any condition.

MA-200 does not support the amplified measurement

Point the Lowest Measurement Reactive Value

Only under the condition that the data acquired during the measurement is higher than the pointed minimal reactive value will the system start to collect data and save it. In short, in this function, what you regulate is the sensitivity of the device. If you set a too low value (e.g. 0.1), the device will easily start measurement and collect some wrong data because of the interference of the environment electric field. On the contrary, if you set a higher value, the device will have difficulty starting the measurement function. So we suggest you keep the preparative setting value set when it leaves factory.  When you find the measurement runs disorderly because of the induction (for example, the device starts the measurement as soon as you hold the test rod.), we suggest that you get rid of the interference source according to the method given in Chapter 4. If the status of interference still exists, you can try to regulate the minimal reactive value moderately.

No matter whether you start the measurement function, you can regulate this value with the mouse. You should increase the value if the device starts measurement as you hold the probe. On the contrary, if there is no reaction when you use the probe to touch the patient you should decrease this value. Generally speaking, this always happens in the winter or the continental dry weather. So you must watch if the wetness of the rod is enough. Another solution is to increase the wetness time of the skin. The method is: set this value to the least and then keep the probe still on the point to be tested until the device start properly and finish the collection of data.

To Change the Minimal Reactive Value Will Not Affect the Correctness of the Data Collected.

The meridian energy value is the actual data of meridian energy. And the compensatory value is the differentiation foundation of some special meridians. It is calculated by data analyses formulae according to the specialty of the meridian.

When you click Exit, the system will shut down the meridian energy measurement window and return to the main menu. The data of the patient and the meridian energy value in the table will not be cleared. These data will be preserved when you enter this function next time before the device is shut down.

5-2 SAVE THE CASE HISTORY

You can save the finished meridian energy value to the system by this function. The system can save about one million persons’ data if your hard disk of your computer is large enough. But the speed of inquiry will not slow down when you save a large number of case history data (more than one million) because the case history management system uses the index sort arrangement.

In the frame of the system data, the case history system includes two kinds of data, one is the basic data of the patient, normally one patient has only a piece of basic data in the system, another is the test data of case history, these data will increase continually with the measurement times. When you are going to save a piece of case history, you should confirm if the basic data of the patient has been saved in the system. If you test him or her before and saved properly, you only need to search by the condition and select the patient data in the data window and save it. If the patient is tested for the first time, you need to add a new patient’s data and save it. These two methods are different, so you should select the data saving mode at the top left corner of the screen; save to the existed patient or save to new patient and then determine the next mode to do.

Add a Piece of Data of Patient

When there is not a piece of data of a patient tested for the first time, you should first click Save To New Patient in energy data save mode at the top left corner of the screen, then click the Append button on the right of the screen, a new window of adding new patient will appear, now you can input the basic data of the patient and save it to be queried later.

In order to query data expediently and differentiate definitely, when you select saving data function, the system will ask you to input the basic data of the patient as follows:

1.   Case history No, the maximum length is allowed to contain 11 digits. The system distinguishes different data mainly based on the number, so this column must be input. If you input a same number that is saved already, the system will prompt you and list the data of the patient saved. You can add this case history to the older patient. If it is a new patient, another number should be input.

The number needs at least one digit and there will be no space before the number or else the data cannot be saved. It is suggested that you make the No according to the telephone number or ID number so that it will not be forgotten in the future. Of course you can use English letters or numbers according to your rules.

If you use telephone number as the rule it is suggested that you add the area code and additional two digits to record different members of the family.

2.   Sex, The MA(tm) will judge the sex of the patient and might change some basic data of some differentiation because of the disparity in sex. So there can be no errors with the data on sex in order not to make errors of differentiation.

3.

4.   Name: It is optional, but recommended because when you query the data the system can use index by name.

5.   Birthday: It is optional, but recommended because the system will regulate the data for differentiation analysis moderately according to the patient’s age.

6.   Address: It is optional.

7.   Telephone No: It is optional

The same patient can use a same case history number any time. The system will record the measurement time and date automatically, so the patient with one number can use the data about date and time to query the prior data.

When you finish adding new patient and saving, the Add new patient window will be shut down but the test data have not been saved yet. At this time you should select the Save button in Save meridian energy value window to save the data to the newly added patient’s basic data.

Data of the Patient Already Exists

If the basic data of the patient has already been saved in the database, you only need to select the name of the patient so that you can save the test data. Don’t input this patient’s data repeatedly in order not to make the trouble in querying because of the disparate data. The method of index by condition and selecting the data of the patient is as follows.

1.   Please select Index by number or Index by name in the Index windows and the window at the bottom of the screen will regulate the order of the data according to your selection.

2.   Input the number data or name data according to your pointed index mode in the condition input column and then click the Start searching button. If the system has found correlative data, these data will be displayed in the window, the basic data will be loaded automatically and data of patient that already exists will be displayed. If there is no correlative data the system will prompt you that it cannot find this data. Of course you can search the data in the window underneath. The method is as follows. Move the mouse pointer to the slide right underneath, then click the left key of the mouse to select the scroll up or down arrows or drag the slide directly to change the data, when you find the suitable data, move the mouse pointer to the data column, and double-click the data, then the data will be loaded. The explanation of the data column can be referred to the illustration.

3.   Click to select the Save button to finish the saving action after loading the basic data.

4.   If you want to cancel the saving action you can select the Abort button.

5-3 Read Case History Data (Modify Case History)

This function includes Inquiry, Load, Modify and Delete data. The system supplies two kinds of querying mode, one is index by number and the other is index by name. When you select Index by number in the Mode of data query window, all the data will be arranged from small to large by the number. If you select Index by name, the data will be arranged in alphabetical order by names. If you want to find the data quickly, you can point the data in the search window directly.

Searching and Loading of the Data

For example, there is a piece of data, No. 1122334455, name, John. if you index by number, you can input the whole No. 1122334455, then press Search button, the system will find the data directly and display “Hit!”. You can input an incomplete No. to query. For example, when you input 112, the system will find all the data whose numbers begin with 112 (such as 1125, 112677, 112235 and so on), and prompt “search for approximation”, the first data beginning with 112 will be displayed.

In the same way, when you index by name, you can input the whole name, such as John and press search button, the system will find this data directly and prompt “hit!” If you only input Jo, the system will find the first patient’s data whose name begins with Jo and prompt a search for approximations.

In this function, the data mainly is displayed in two columns, one is the basic data column and the other is meridian energy case history column. When you point the basic data with the mouse pointer and click the left key of the mouse, all the data of this patient will be displayed in the meridian energy column. You can click the scroll arrows or drag the slide directly to query the related data of the patient in the basic data column, and then move the mouse pointer to the case history column to select this data and press the Load button to load this data. Another quick method is: move the mouse pointer to related data in the case history column and then double click the left key of the mouse to load this data. Once you load the data, the existing data on the screen will be replaced. (If you have not saved this data, it will be lost.)

Delete the Data

There are two kinds of data in this function, one is the basic data and the other is the case history data. When you want to perform this function, you should know which kind of data you want to delete. If you select a case history data and click the Delete button, this data will be deleted forever. If you select a basic data, not only the basic data but also all meridian energy case history data of this patient will be deleted completely.

When you click the Delete button to delete data, the system will display a window to confirm. You can decide again if you want to delete the data.

If you don’t want to load any data after the query, you can click the Abort button to end the query function. When you exit this function, all the former data on the screen will not be changed because you didn’t load any new data.

Modify the Basic Data of the Patient

When you want to update the former basic data or input some changed data, you can use this function. Please select the basic data that you want to modify in the basic data window and click the Modify data button. The system will display a modify window which looks like the added new patient window. Please refer to the former explanation of the added new patient data. Because the number of the data is the most important foundation of saving and analyzing data, it cannot be changed in any way.

When you modify the basic data of the patient, if the No. can be modified without any limit, the interrelated data with the No. will be lost because of the changed No.  If you want to modify the No by all means, you can delete the old data and add a new patient data. The former test data will be deleted by default.

Modify Meridian Energy Value

The system supplies modifying function of meridian energy value besides the test function. You can modify or simulate the meridian energy value and use the analyzing function, and then you can find the best way in the clinical diagnosis and treatment by multiple observations. You can also modify the setting of the potential, the date and the time except for the complete meridian energy value data. Please click the Save button after modifying. What should be noticed is that once you confirm to modify the data the old data will be completely replaced by the changed data.

5-4 Clear Data

When you want to measure a new meridian energy value, you can select this function to clear the data on the screen in order not to disturb the measuring data visually. This function will only clear the data on the screen. When you use this function, please confirm that the data has been saved. Otherwise, once the data is cleared, it will not be recovered.

You need not use this function before measuring new data. In fact, if you don’t use this function to start measuring, the newly acquired data will replace the old data and not affect the other function.

5-5 Energy analyses

When you measure the 24 points by the proper order or load the case history, you can click the Analysis button to analyze the meridian energy value. If you haven’t finished the meridian energy measurement of the 24 points completely, you couldn’t start this function because this function is based on the energy data of 24 meridians.

The professional symptom differentiation function of meridian energy analysis is the most important function of this device. We supply you the exact physiological information of body meridian energy by different kinds of graphs and detailed explanation.

In the meridian analysis function, you can select the desired kinds of analysis data with the mouse in the pages selection column. There are altogether seven pages which are explained as follows.

Analysis graph of meridian energy

This device supplies several kinds of graphs as follows.

1. Excess-deficiency analysis --bar diagram (whole series)

2. Excess-deficiency analysis--curve diagram (whole series)

3. Inter promotion of Five Elements analysis (MA-Pro, MA-100)

4. Inter-inhibition of Five Elements analysis (MA-Pro, MA-100)

5. Yin-Yang analysis (ME-Pro)

6. Qi-Blood analysis (ME-Pro)

When you want to change the query graph, you can click the circular alterative button on the bottom of the screen with the mouse.

Once you select the graph, the mode of the graph will not be changed even if you alter to another page.

The analysis mode of various graphs and the means of the data will be explained in Chart 12.

Body Energy Analysis

In this item, you will learn the status of body energy, physiological and psychological functions by means of function index graph, literal explanation and sorts of analysis data. In order to let the user hold detailed data for clinical symptom differentiation, the window also includes the basic data of the patient and the meridian energy value. Please refer to Chart 11 to get detailed data.

External and Internal Analysis

The status of the external and internal meridian energy is always important information in clinical symptom differentiation. The external and internal meridians mean the most relative Zang and fu ( means internal organs in westren medical term) ( means internal organs in westren medical term) ( means internal organs in westren medical term). When a meridian or a viscus is abnormal, the related meridians or viscera will probably be affected. So the user will learn more information if he refers the QI-Blood status of the external and internal meridians in the symptom differentiation.

The external and internal meridians data:

Lung Meridian-Large intestine meridian    Heart Meridian-Small Intestine Meridian

Pericardium Meridian-Sanjiao Meridian    Spleen Meridian-Stomach Meridian

Liver Meridian-Gallbladder Meridian        Kidney Meridian-Bladder Meridian

Single Meridian differentiation

Once the whole body energy, endocrine system, muscular-skeletal system, metabolism, autonomic nerve and some single meridian are abnormal, the possible status and symptom, Midnight-noon ebb-flow and other things important will be displayed and analyzed in the window. The Zang-Fu, which the meridians stand for and their basic functions are also explained.

This table includes three parts: differentiation items, detailed explanations and good conducting differentiation. You can select the item in the differentiation item column with the mouse, and the system will display the detailed data in the detailed explanations and good conducting differentiation columns according to the status of the meridians and body energy.

Multiple Meridians Differentiation (ME-Pro)

When there are several abnormal meridians in the body, the system will supply detailed differentiation reference for complicated symptoms caused by interactive action of multiple meridians according to the internal database of clinical abnormal report.

Single meridian differentiation only pays attention to the abnormal phenomenon of single meridian and the related Zang or Fu so that it cannot include the variability of the body and the complicated cause of diseases. Different from this, multiple meridian differentiation can supply detailed differentiation data according to the development of clinical study on good conducting meridian. These data include functions of Meridian, action of related Zang-Fu, located symptoms, related diagnosis and so on.

Similar to single meridian differentiation, you can select the differentiation item with the mouse and the detailed data will be displayed in the detailed explanations column.

Advice on Recipe of Points and Medicine

The system has created giant database for clinical use. In this function we supply seven kinds of acupuncture point combinations and a large reference of single and compound prescriptions for professional doctors.

You can select in the differentiation item column with the mouse to query the advice on recipe of points and medicine for abnormal meridians. In the detailed explanation column, the points used in every combination and the property of the single prescription will be displayed. This function can ensure that you get convenient operation and perfect reference data.

Dietary Regime

Chinese people often say that food and drug have the common source. This function can supply the patient kinds of foods for daily health care. It can make the patient take part in nursing his health daily and keeping good dietary habit.

You can select the items in dietary items column with the mouse to query the advice on dietary regime for the abnormal meridian. The daily health-care food is beneficial for this meridian and can be eaten without limit. The food for excess syndrome or deficiency syndrome is for the abnormality of the meridian.

Specialist

This device also supplies another important function--you can add additional data for symptoms differentiation or for treatment for yourself aside from the data in the system database.

Before querying this function, you must select treatment settings in the system support menu and input name and explanation of the treatment, related symptoms and abnormal meridian phenomenon (Re: the explanation of setting of treatment). When the device tests state according with these symptoms, it will display the treatment method or data input by you in this window according to your conditions.

So the data displayed in the specialist treatment can be modified, added or deleted according to your clinical experience or your special prescription or treatment. This device will become a specialist system with personal feature with this property that can expand without limit.

You can select the data in treatment item with the mouse, and the system will display the data set by you in the detailed explanation column.

Data print

The system supplies both powerful real time query function on screen and elastic print function. In the print option, you can select the data you want to print freely. In the window of print of the analysis data, you can select detailed style to print detailed differentiation data or simple style to save print time.

When you have set the mode of print data, the system should memorize this mode. The system will use those settings indefinitely to save time unless you changed them.

The printer setup button is to set the functions of printer such as the quality of print, the style of print (color or monochrome), setting of technology, number of copies and so on. Because different printers have different setting mode, please refer to your operation manual of your printer.

When you have set the data above, you can click the Print button to print your data.

In the print data function, we use the advanced background-printing mode to decrease your waiting time. Once you click the Print button, the system will output the data and start printing. At the same time you can continue your query or measure the next patient without waiting for the finishing of printing. If you want to print another patient’s data, you don’t have to wait until the former data is printed. The system will output the data and create a printing document automatically and print the data in order.

Compared with screen displays, the excellence of printing is that the data is portable and easy to store and the shortcoming is the waste of printing time. If the data will not be carried and be stored as paper files, you need not to print all the data.

Before you perform the print function, you should set the printer in the Windows system, otherwise, the print function cannot be started. The setting mode can be referred to in the operation manual of your printer or Windows®, or you can let the computer server help you.

Please note the printing speed of this style when you buy the printer.  In clinical practice, we have found that waiting for printing will cost a lot of time if the printer speed is very slow.

The system supplies colorful printing functions, so its recommended that are equipped with a printer that can support the colorful style to take full advantage of the system functions.

Exit the Data Analysis

If you want to end the data analysis function, you can click the Exit button and turn to meridian measurement menu.

5-6 Data Input

This function supplies a manual method of inputting data for the user. You can input the complete data of 24 points to the system and use the differentiation tools of the system to deal with the case history just like the measurement function of the system.

The potential and date data also need to be input besides the data of the 24 points, and the date data is optional.

The mode of this function is the same with modify the data function. Please refer to that.

Though the ME-20 system does not supply high potential measurement, there will be no problem in saving and analyzing the data and the system will supply a complete analysis function because the data is shared by all the series of the meridian energy analysis device and are interchangeable. The detailed method of exchange will be introduced in Chart 10.

Chapter 6 Comparison of Meridian Energy

In this function we supply you the comparison function for multiple meridians energy. When you have finished several measurements of meridian energy and saved them, you can use this function to compare several case histories in order to learn the change of meridian energy or body status of the patient in different period (such as the period before treatment and after treatment).

You can load one to six different case histories from the data saved by the system. The data on meridian energy of each case history will be drawn in one graph so that it can manifest the change of single meridian in different case histories clearly.

We suggest you load two or three case histories at most to compare though the system can load six cases at most each time. If you load more than three case histories, you will be troubled with differentiating the graph. Detailed items are described as follows.

6-1 Changed Data

When you enter the comparison of meridian energy, you will see a blank vacant graph because we don’t load any data. You can select the Changed data button and the system will display a window to edit or load data to compare.

Load analysis data

The changed data window includes several parts: mode of data query, search data, basic data of patient, meridian energy data. The operation mode of these columns is the same as Load case history function in chapter 5.  Please refer the explanation in the former chapter directly.

Different from those, after you select meridian energy column with mouse, the patient and the measurement time you load will be displayed in the comparative data column. You can load six cases at most each time and the system will limit you to load the same case.

Additionally, unless you have loaded six cases, you can load other cases at any time. If you have loaded six cases, unless you remove part of them, you can load no more.

Removing the Comparative Data

When you don’t want to compare a patient’s case history, you can perform this function to remove it. The remove means removing the data from the comparative data column and will not affect the data which have been saved in the system. After you perform this function, you can load other cases in the former function.

If you want to remove some comparative data, please move the mouse pointer to the comparative column and select the data you want to delete, then press the Remove button to delete the data. You can also select the data you want to delete and then double-click the left key of the mouse to remove the data.

6-2 Perform Comparative Graph Analysis

When you finish loading related case history, you can click the Exit button and return to the meridian comparison window. The system will draw the physiological curve based on the data you load. The curves are discriminated by different colors. The curve is equal to the case history quantitatively.

Here you can select the comparison data in the patient’s data column to display the physiological limit or hide the limit. The column under the patient’s data column will display important reference data with your selection of different case history data. If you want to change the items of comparative data you can select changed data key again.

6-3 Exit Meridian Energy Comparison

You can click the Exit button to exit multiple meridian energy comparison. If you have loaded some data before exiting this function and performed other function, the system reserves your case history until you come back again unless you remove them or end the device’s running.

The base of multiple meridian energy comparison is the same measurement condition of the case history. The data to be compared needs to be complete. You cannot compare the data collected under the standard potential and those under the high potential. The comparative function will be of no sense if you violate these two rules.

Chapter 7 Points Locating System

According to the good conducting theory, the good conducting point (acupuncture point) has a width of about 1 cm. The range over 1 cm is called good conducting area. The size of the acupuncture point is about 0.3 cm.

The meridian point of the body will move with different habits. The actual location is not always accord with the theoretic location. When we measure with the device, though the point is a little divergent, we can still keep the veracity as long as we abide by the principle of “ leave the point but not leave the meridian”. But during the treatment, the therapeutic effect will be lowered if there is any deviation of the point. So you can use this function to find the exact location of the point during clinical performance if it is necessary to test a certain location accurately.

In the selection of the point, there are standard potential and high potential. High potential is more sensitive than standard potential in point location. In point locating, the use of the probe is same with that of meridian measurement. The performance of point locating includes two steps as follows.

First, locate the possible area of the point and then scan enough and record the highest physiological data of this area. Second, measure this area with the probe and compare the data with the former highest data to find the reactive point with highest data. This reactive data is the right location of the point. The detailed method is described as follows.

7-1 Record the Highest Reactive Data

1.   When you enter this system for the first time, the system will set the mode of data collection to record the highest value. You only need to select start button to start the location function of the system.

2.   You can select any point of location on the body for measurement. Locating the measurement area is to find the theoretic location of the point and then scan the area in 3~5 cm range around the point and record the highest data. This area cannot be overlapped with other points or else we cannot decide which point the data belongs to. The user can move the wet end of the probe (the end with cotton) slowly in this area and the system will prompt you with sound effect that the measurement is processing. The data of value in the Information of location window will be vary with the measurement and the highest data of this area will be recorded in the highest. When you finish scanning this area, the system will finish recording the highest value of this area.

7-2 Point locating

1.   After recording the highest value of this area, please select data collection mode in the top of the window and set the location mode to search mode. The recorded highest data will not be changed. The user measures this area again and lets the system compare the location data and the highest data. If the measurement data is closed to the highest data, the status at the bottom of the window will display text “closed to point” and the index in information of location will be yellow. If the measurement value is higher than or equal to the highest value, text” In the right location” will be displayed. The red color index in information of location and higher sound effect mean that the probe is in the right location.

2.   Balance means the ratio of measuring data and the highest value. It can determine the deviation of the measuring location and the right point.

3.   If you want to locate the point more exactly, you can use the metal end of the probe to scan the point location which is an 1.2 cm area overlapped by the cotton end of the probe. When you perform this action, the material and size of the probe end have been changed so that the measuring data will be lowered. You cannot refer to the ration of location data and the highest data any more. You can use your eyes and compare the ratio yourself to find the highest data in this area whose diameter is about 1.2 cm. Once you find the point with the highest value in this area, you have located the most exact point (the error range is within 0.2 cm).

If you use this system to probe the reactive good conducting point, you can only use the wet end of the probe to track along the meridian and search according to the above principles. The reactive good conducting means point with the highest value in a meridian and it can modulate the abnormal reaction of meridian energy in the good conducting meridian theory.

7-3 Function Options

Sound effect switch can control the sound effect during the measurement.

When you select Save highest value, the highest value will still exist in order to continue the point locating later though you exit this function. Once you exit this function, the system will clear the highest value if you don’t select this option.

Sensitivity is to set the lowest data that the system record at the beginning of measurement. The higher the value, the lower the sensitivity that the system start to collect data. Generally speaking, you don’t have to adjust this sensitivity unless the interference of environment electric field is too large or you are not willing to have high sensitivity to avoid wrong action.

7-4 Clear the Highest Value Record

If you want to record the highest value afresh, you can click the Clear the highest value record button to clear the record and start the locating of another point.

7-5 Exit Point Locating System

You can click the Exit button to exit point locating system and return to the main menu.

 Chapter 10 System Support

The MA(TM) series use advanced parameter-setting system so that you can share the flexibility of local parameter setting when you use the device.

The system support function mainly includes important functions to maintain the correct running of the system such as automatic calibration, setting of hospital or personal data (e.g. user setting and therapy setting) and system data inputting and outputting. Because the specialist therapy has more data, we set a single chapter to explain it. In this chapter, we will explain user setting, data inputting and outputting and automatic calibration.

10-1 Automatic Calibration System

This device is an exact instrument and the change of environmental electric field, temperature, wetness and the stability of power source will make error during measurement. The automatic calibration system will calibrate the device to maintain the accuracy of measurement so that the exact differentiation of the device is kept.

Explanation for Calibration Data

1.   The basic calibration value before calibration

This value is the former calibration value that the device saved only for reference.

2.   Environment compensatory value

After you finish this calibration function, the system will compare this calibration value with the last calibration value and analysis the environment error value as environment compensatory value. This value is displayed as percentage.

3.   The basic calibration value after calibration

After you have finished this calibration, the system will display the calibration value in this column.

4.   Calibration index

The rate of progress will be displayed here when the calibration function is being performed.

Occasion for performing automatic calibration

1.   The Meridian Energy Analysis Device has been installed for the first time.

2.   The environment is changed (e.g. move the device).

3.   Environment temperature and wetness has changed obviously (e.g. seasons alter, rain).

4.   The damp cotton of the probe has been replaced.

5.   The salt water has been replaced.

6.   Time system calibration normal (about once a week).

The device needs not to calibrate every time you use. If you perform automatic calibration at the above occasion, you can assure the accuracy of the system.

Perform Automatic Calibration Function

The automatic calibration function includes low potential and high potential calibration, but you only need to perform once to calibrate these two values. Before calibration, put the handle on the desk with insulating plastic and don’t hold the probe and the handle with the right and left hand respectively. Then damp the cotton of the probe with salt water and click to select Start button, once you touch the metal part of the handle with the cotton of the probe, the automatic calibration system will start to perform automatic calibration function.

Do not disturb the probe and the handle before finishing calibration or else the system will terminate the automatic calibration function and display information of error in calibration mode. Please perform automatic calibration function again according to the above step.

During the calibration you can click Stop button to stop the performance of calibration function.

When you perform calibration twice in a certain time, the less the difference is, the better. If the difference is higher than ±3%there is something wrong with your calibration mode. The possible reasons are as follows.

1. You have separated or disturbed the handle and the probe when you perform calibration.

2. The place where the handle is put has bad isolation effect. Please isolate the handle again.

3. The interface of the probe and the handle is not good when you perform the calibration.

4. You have not wet the cotton with the saltwater or the saltwater concentration is not enough.

5. The severe interference of the environment electric field.

The right performance of calibration is of important effect on the accuracy of the system. You can perform the calibration repeat to grasp the operation.

The Important Explanation

When you have finished the calibration function according to the right order, the ratio of difference will be displayed in the Environment compensatory value. The device must calculate the environment compensatory value to keep the accuracy. After you finish the calibration, you can check the basic value after calibration. The value exceeding 3000 means the calibration is finished normally.

Putting the handle on the plastic desktop can avoid affecting the reliability of the calibration due to  the induction of the hand.

Because we use wet cotton on the probe end, there always are some acceptable errors during each calibration. But you can ignore these errors because these errors have been calculated in the system. The automatic calibration use the precision of 4096 which is 20 times than that of measurement, so the system can keep high accuracy as long as you perform the calibration correctly.

10-2 Setting of user’s basic data

You can set the basic data of yourself in this window so that the system can display these data when you need.

You can set the following data in this window.

1.   User’s name (1): The data you set will be displayed at the bottom left corner of the main menu and we suggest that you input the name of the hospital, institute, user and so on.

2.   User’s name (2): The data you set will be printed as the name of the table on the top of the first page. We suggest you input data such as meridian energy analysis report of ** hospital.

3.   User’s data (1): The data you set will be printed as the explanation of the report on the second line in the first page.

When you have set these data, you can click Save button to save these data. Of course you can also click the Abort button not to save these data and exit this function.

10-3 Input and Output the Data

The system supports the interchange of the data in different types. You can output the data and save it on the diskette or other dependent disk or input the data from external disk to the system.

For example, the Me-20 does not supply adding or modifying specialist’s therapy but supplies the item of automatic differentiation. You can input the data built by Me-100 or Me-pro into Me-20.

The operator in a same unit can use the same data in different types as long as the unit built a complete database. You can also backup the data with this function. All the data that can be input and output are all in the system work directory (in C disk unless you have change during the installing). When you startup this function, the system will search the data automatically and display them at the bottom of the screen.

The inputting means copying the database from other directories or diskettes to the work directory and replacing the former data. The outputting means copying the database in the work directory to other directory or diskette. Inputting the data will replace the former data with external data completely. And outputting the data will not affect the former data.  Now we can introduce the detailed operation.

You can see two buttons at the top of the screen, one is Output and the other is Input. First select to click one button to decide outputting or inputting data.

Then select the data name you want to input or output. You can only input or output one database at a time.

Once you have selected the target directory or the source directory you can startup the function.

Generally, you should select A drive and use the floppy disk to input or output the data. Remember to confirm if the disk has been formatted when you input the data.

Please pay attention to the following problem when you perform inputting or outputting data.

1. When you input data, these data will replace the former data completely and the former data will be lost and cannot be recovered.

2. When you want to input or output the basic data and meridian energy data of the patient, you must input or output them at the same time. The correlation of these data will be lost if you input or output one of them because the meridian energy data is dependent on the basic data.

3. When you only input the basic data and not input the meridian energy data, of course, the basic data can be used, queried, modified or deleted, but the existed meridian energy data cannot be used because the patients have been changed.

4. If you input the meridian energy data only and don’t input the basic data, this method is dangerous and is not recommended, because this data could not be used and the former data will be lost.

The outputting and inputting function is important for ME-20, because this type only supplies the automatic differentiation and displaying function and not supplies adding, deleting and modifying function. So when you use ME-20, you must build the specialist therapy by ME-100 or ME-Pro and then input the database into ME-20.

When you use this system in a unit, the exchange function of specialist’s therapy is a useful function. You can collect the complete data on your therapy or production and input them into the system and then copy them to other types by this function.

10-4 Exit MA(TM)

Click Exit button or the shortcut key, you can end the performance of MA(TM) and return to Windows.

When you want to end the system function, don’t turn off the power source directly. Please end this function normally and shut down the computer in Windows in order to avoid the completeness of the system.

Please refer to the explanation of Chapter 3.

Chapter 11 Reading Data of Meridian Energy

This chapter will explain all analytic data of Meridian Energy Analysis Device and inside meaning of physiological data in the literal illustration, as well as basis of differentiation. All these provide reference for your clinic differentiation. When you read this chapter, please consult with chapter 12 - explanation of analysis graph.

11-1 Physiological Reaction Diagram

After the measurement of the representative measurement points in 24 meridians of the patient is finished, Meridian Energy Analysis Device will produce physiological reaction diagrams of the patient by itself according to the acquired excited degree. Thereby it describes the analysis graph and kinds of differentiation data (you can consult with [energy analysis function] of Meridian Energy Analysis Device) for you to evaluate Jing Luo excess-deficiency state and operational condition of Zang Fu.

The most basic differentiation process of Meridian Energy Analysis Device is to describe [physiological reaction diagram] first according to measurement data, then produce analysis graph in corresponding place by analyzing data between 24 Jing Luo and [physiological reaction diagram] and calculating all the meridian compensatory data, and then to analyze and clear kinds of differentiation data in differentiation data storage to show in the windows of [analysis energy].

You can consult with analysis graph of Jing Luo excess-deficiency in [analysis energy] function and following illustration so as to know function of [physiological reaction graph].

Physiological reaction graph

H2  H1  Average body energy  L1  L2                                             Pathologic excited reaction                   Excess syndrome reaction area

                                  Physiological excited reaction

                                                                                              Normal reaction area

Physiological deficiency reaction      Deficiency syndrome reaction area

                            Pathologic deficiency reaction

1.Normal reaction area

It shows that the meridian is in normal reaction state when measured excited degree of each Jing Luo is between H1 and L1.The normal state is all showed by green points or flower pattern in all graphs.

2.Deficiency syndrome reaction area

Meridian excited degree under L1 means the meridian reaction corresponds with deficiency syndrome reaction in traditional medicine.

If meridian excited degree is between L1 and L2, it shows that the meridian is in physiological deficiency reaction range. In common state, its excited degree is still in normal reaction state. It should be considered whether psychological or exterior factors are now influencing patient’s physiological function, or this meridian has a little deficiency reaction. It’s all showed with yellow points or flower pattern in all graphs.

If meridian excited degree is under L2, it shows the meridian is in pathologic deficiency reaction range. At this time, it should be considered the meridian may have deficiency reaction in Zang Fu or Meridian. It’s all showed with red points or flower pattern in all graphs.

3.Excess syndrome reaction area

If meridian excited degree is above H1, it shows the meridian is in excess syndrome reaction range in traditional medicine.

If meridian excited degree is between H1 and H2, it shows the meridian is in physiological excited reaction range. In common state, its excited degree is still in normal reaction state. It should be considered whether psychological or exterior factors are now influencing patient’s physiological function, or this meridian has a little excess reaction.

If meridian excited degree is above H2, it shows the meridian is in pathologic excited reaction range. At this time, it should be considered the meridian may have excess reaction in Zang Fu or Jing Luo.

The function of every meridian has close relationship. When some meridian energy shows abnormal, you can be sure about differentiation if you consult with other meridian energy data at the same time (for example, externally and internally related Jing Luo, and so on). From clinic application of traditional Meridian Energy Analysis Device, we know that when some meridian energy is in pathologic deficiency or excited reaction state, externally and internally related Jing Luo will be influenced and presents abnormal reaction.

For example, in clinic differentiation you may find that Gallbladder Meridian is in physiological deficiency reaction when Liver Meridian in pathologic excited reaction. At this time function of Gallbladder Meridian may be influenced by Liver Meridian. So Liver Meridian state should be considered first in clinic differentiation.

Qi-blood balance degree of right-left meridian and interior-exterior meridian is also important data in clinic differentiation. Please be careful especially in clinical application.

11-2 Explanation of Analysis Data

Meridian energy analysis device uses new meridian energy technology. Integer-data contrasting method is used to analyze contrastively measured data of the 24 meridians. The data’s degree of highness or lowness of any measured point will influence whole judgment. So, except showing average meridian excited degree, the highness of a single datum or lowness of measured point has no meaning in the whole meridian energy differentiation science. It’s not until average meridian energy excited degree of all 24 meridians are collected together that meridian energy analysis device can provide an integrated case analysis after compensating and repairing meridian data with exact F.C.T. Science.

In “energy analysis” function, data showed on analysis device is managed with the following calculating method. Please consult the producing mode when you read data.

1.  Average Body Energy

Average body energy is the data that summation is divided by 24. The summation is 24 meridians excited degree which have been collected, analyzed and repaired. The data is called excited degree of meridians because it calculates autonomic nerve excited degree of every meridian at every pore. According to research, somebody’s activity has close relationship with autonomic nerve excited degree. As average excited degree is higher, body energy state is better. Of course, it doesn’t include pathologic excited reaction due to Zang itself and early meridian disease. As average excited degree is lower, it is easier to show weak. The data is often used as central physiological borderline to analyze graph and tell between deficiency and excess.

1.  Normal Range

Male:>=28~<60    Female:>=26~<59

[Related diagnosis explanation]

Clinical study shows that average body energy can remain in normal range when body is healthy or common.

[Probable case explanation]

1.    Normal nutrient ingestion

6.   Good reaction to medicine or period of treatment

2.  Excited Body Energy

[Related Diagnosis Explanation]

Commonly, if individual meridian has no clear deficiency or excess syndrome, it shows patient body energy state is hearty and nutrient ingestion is full. If in some period patient suddenly has clearly abnormal body energy increase after many times of measurements, it should be considered that outside evil influence break in and lead to acute reaction. That is called “pathological excited reaction”. We should notice excited degree, regard and contrast highness or lowness of individual meridian data and other analysis data.

[Body energy little increase] Probable case explanation

Male:>=60~62, female: >=59~61

1.Full nutrient ingestion

2.Excited body energy and activity

3.Excited autonomic nerve activity

4.Maladjusted phenomenon inside due to immune system reaction to evil influence (for

     example, infection due to bacteria)

5.Body function resists balance due to Zang disease so as to correspond abnormal

   physiological state.

6.Probably pathological excited reaction caused by acute disease or early chronic disease

7.Being sure whether false excited reaction caused by sport, drinking alcohol, coffee or other

   beverage

8.Being sure whether taking in exhilarant and other exciting nerve medicine

   example, infection due to bacteria)

5.Body function resists balance due to Zang disease so as to correspond abnormal

   physiological state.

6.Probablely pathological excited reaction caused by acute disease or early chronic disease

7.Being sure whether false excited reaction caused by sport, drinking alcohol, coffee or other

   beverage

8.Being sure whether taking in exhilarant and other nerve-exciting medicine

[Body energy clearly excite] Probable case explanation

Male:>=68, female: >67

1.Full nutrient ingestion

   phenomenon of nerve)

4.Maladjusted phenomenon inside due to immune system reaction to ill influence (for

   example, infection due to bacteria)

5.Body function resists balance due to Zang disease so as to correspond abnormal

   physiological state.

6.Probablely pathological excited reaction caused by acute disease or early chronic disease

7.Being sure whether false excited reaction caused by sport, drinking alcohol, coffee or other beverage

8.Being sure whether taking in exhilarant and other exciting nerve medicine

3.Body energy decrease

[Related diagnosis explanation]

It shows that patient’s energy decrease or ingestion of body nutrient is not full. Long period of turndown body energy state needs considering to regulate vitality according to different degree, even if individual meridian has no apparent deficient or excess syndrome. We should rigorously notice depressed degree, regard and contrast energy data of individual meridian and other analysis data. Average body energy under 12 may make it difficult to read deficiency or excess syndrome because every meridian energy data also decrease accordingly. Now we can use high potential measure instead (That is to use magnifying measure method, and result with measure potential in “meridian measure” function). If body energy remains below 19 after measuring many times or continually decreases, it’s necessary to notice Spleen Meridian closely (endocrine system) and Sanjiao Meridian (lymphatic system). When Spleen Meridian or Sanjiao Meridian continuously in deficiency or excess syndrome state, it needs to be thought of possible tumor, and accept further diagnosis when necessary.

[Body energy little decrease] Probable case explanation

Male:>=26~28, female: >=24~26

1.Little lack of nutrient ingestion

2.Decreased body energy and activity

3.Deficiency phenomenon of body energy waste due to chronic disease period.

4.Slight decrease of resistance and balance in immune system and body function.

5. Decreased autonomic nerve activity.

6.Slight natural decrease of function.

7.   Slight depravation trend in acute or chronic disease period.

8.   Physiologically or psychologically tired state due to press or excessive tiredness.

9.Being sure whether false deficiency reaction caused by tiredness after sport or lack of sleep.

10.Being sure whether taking in ataractic or soporific and other quieting nerve now or continually.

[Body energy moderate decrease] Probable case explanation

Male:>=19~26, female: >=18~24

1.Lack of nutrient ingestion

2.Decreased body energy and activity

3.Deficiency phenomenon of body energy waste due to chronic disease.

4.Slight decrease of resistance and balance in immune system and body function.

5. Decreased autonomic nerve activity. (and consider possible abnormal physiological

    phenomenon of nerve )

6.Moderate natural decrease of function. (it is necessary to consider possibility of disease if

   under degenerative age)

7.Slight depravation trend in acute or chronic disease period. (more attention to be paid if

   more body energy decrease )

8.Physiologically or psychologically tired state due to press or excessive tiredness.

9.Being sure whether false deficiency reaction caused by tiredness after sport or lack of

   sleep.

10.Being sure whether taking in ataractic or soporific and other quieting nerve now or continually.

[Body energy clear decrease] Probable case explanation

Male: <19, female: <18

1.Long period lack of nutrient ingestion

2.Decreased body energy and activity

3.Wasting phenomenon of body energy in chronic disease period.

4.Serious decrease of resistance and balance in immune system and body function.

5. Decreased autonomic nerve activity. ( considering also abnormal physiological

      phenomenon of nerve )

6. Moderate natural decrease of function. ( necessary to considering possibility of disease if at a degenerative age)

7.Slight depravation trend in acute or chronic disease period. ( more attention to be paid  if

   more body energy decrease )

8.Physiologically or psychologically tired state due to press or excessive tiredness.

9.Being sure whether false deficiency reaction caused by tiredness after sport or lack of

         period.

2. Above /Under Qi (or Chi)and Blood Ratio (spirit activity)

Above /under Qi (or Chi)and blood ratio can be used to evaluate above/under autonomic nerve excitement degree, to know spirit state and nerve activity of object and realize press degree and the dealing activity.

These data have relationship with “autonomic nerve balancing degree”. Abnormal above /under Qi (or Chi)and blood ratio often leads to unbalance of autonomic nerve. Differentiation needs consulting with both two data.

[Read data rule]

Clearly decreased spirit activity    male: <0.63   female: <0.53

Moderately decreased spirit activity    male: <0.63~0.83   female: <0.53~0.73

Slightly decreased spirit activity    male: < 0.83~0.88   female: <0.73~0.78

Normal spirit activity    male: < 0.83~1.16   female: <0.78~1.06

Slightly increased spirit activity    male: <1.16~1.31   female: <1.06~1.20

Moderately increased spirit activity    male : < 1.31~1.41   female: <1.20~1.29

Clearly increased spirit activity    male : >= 1.41   female: >=1.29

1. Normal spirit activity

Male: < 0.83~1.16   female: <0.78~1.06

[Related diagnosis explanation]

Normal spirit activity shows spirit activity is normal, and he has good enduring and solving ability to spirit press and outside influence in psychological aspect in daily life. On the other side, it shows that object is in good spirit at that time, that is, he has no clear spirit press or deficiency case.

2. Decreased spirit activity

Male: < 0.88   female: <0.78

[Related diagnosis explanation]

Decreased spirit activity shows he is in decreased spirit. We should notice state of body energy. In the case of more decreased body energy, spirit is easier to be influenced. If the data are lower, he shows clearer symptom.

Common symptoms usually are tiredness, slight sleep, fright, unfixed attention, hypo amnesia, slow reaction and so on. They are mainly because regulation between nerve system and Zang Fu is weakened. We need to consider physiological influence caused by decreased spirit.

Some patients with neurosis have this result.

3. Increased spirit activity

Male: >=1.16   female: >=1.06

[Related diagnosis explanation]

Increased spirit activity shows he is in excited spirit and under increased stress. We should notice state of body energy: more increased body energy, stronger the reaction that spirit is influenced. The higher, the data the clearer, the symptom he shows. If object lives in city for a long time or he is in a leading position, data are possible in a slightly high state for a long time.

He may become active, impatient, anxious, or angry. When outside press increases, brain cells’ activity increases accordingly and he will feel uncomfortable caused by emotional oppression.

3. Left/right muscular skeletal state ratio

In clinically traditional medicine, Liver and Gallbladder takes charge of tendon, Spleen and Stomach take charge of muscle, Kidney and Bladder take charge of bone, Heart takes charge of blood and vessel, Lung takes charge of skin and hair; that is to say, working of zang and fu ( means internal organs in western medical term) has close relationship. Body meridian refers to the 24 symmetrical meridians of the left and right sides. Unbalanced state of qi-blood in left and right meridians can leads to disorder and working obstacle of muscular skeletal system. It’s not important to musculoskeletal system function by which meridian the unbalanced state is caused. To know qi-blood state of left and right sides of every zang fu, you can consult directly with analysis diagram in [energy analysis]. Commonly, meridians related to obstacle of muscular skeletal  system are: Gallbladder Meridian, Bladder Meridian, Sanjiao Meridian; you may consult with them in differentiation.

[Read data rule]

The musculoskeletal system works well.    >=0.8~<1.2

The function of musculoskeletal system works slightly disorderly.    >=0.7~<0.8 or >=1.2~<1.3

The function of musculoskeletal system works moderately disorderly.   >=0.4~<0.7 or >1.3~<=1.6

The function of musculoskeletal system works obviously disorderly.    <0.4o or >1.6

[Related diagnosis explanation]

When musculoskeletal system state ratio shows disorder, it means musculoskeletal system question caused by interior Qi (or Chi)and blood disorder among zang and fu ( means internal organs in western medical term). Muscular skeletal system will have some obstacle in working and nourishing functions such as arthritis, gall of arthritis, pain of bones and muscles, rheumatism, abnormality and shift of arthritis. Sometimes abnormal cases are of aura, that’s patient not always has spontaneous or musculature pain. But we need to notice the possibility of disease. Musculoskeletal system abnormality sometimes leads to exogenous wrench, contusion and fracture. Movement injure simply caused by outside force does not always show abnormality.

Abnormal cases are possibly caused by outside press influence or disorder of zang and fu ( means internal organs in western medical term). As factors leading to abnormality are so many, we advise you take further diagnostic steps, such as, to find out the course of disease, filtrate pathogenic, and choose appropriate period of treatment according to deficiency or excess syndrome of individual meridian. Abnormal reaction of Bladder Meridian often shows working of musculoskeletal system (especially female), and need especial notice when differentiate.

4. Yin/Yang Metabolic Function Ratio

Yin zang(Heart, Pericardium, Liver, Spleen, Lung, Kidney) is the organ to save energy in body; Yang fu (Large Intestine, Small Intestine, Sanjiao, Gallbladder, Stomach, Bladder) is metabolic organ in charge of ingestion, digestion, secretion and suggestion. To compare Qi (or Chi)and blood balance state of Yin zang and Yang fu can evaluate metabolic function of the body.

[Read data rule]

Metabolic function is obviously increased.        <0.4

Metabolic function is moderately increased.       >=0.4~<0.7

Metabolic function is slightly increased.          >=0.7~<0.8

Metabolic function works well.                 >=0.8~<1.2

Metabolic function is slightly decreased.          >=1.2~<1.3

Metabolic function is moderately decreased.       >=1.3~<1.6

Metabolic function is obviously decreased.        >1.6

1. Metabolic Function Works Well. [>=0.8~<1.2]

[Related diagnosis explanation]

Balance between Qi (or Chi)and blood of Yin zang and Yang fu shows good metabolic state of body function.

2.Metabolic Function is Increased. [<0.8]

[Probable case explanation]

1. Energy of Qi (or Chi)and blood in Yang fu is bigger than that of Yin zang.

2. Probably outside evil influence breaking into body leads to inflammation.

3. Function of sympathetic nerve, sub sympathetic nerve and adrenal gland is excited.

4. Excited state caused by hormone disorder. (for example, thyroid gland)

5. Medicine that increases metabolic function.

Notice the data when differentiation so to differentiate symptom degree.

3.Metabolic Function is Decreased. [>1.2]

[Probable case explanation]

1. Energy of Qi (or Chi)and blood in Yin zang is bigger than that of Yang fu.

2. Function of sympathetic nerve and sub sympathetic nerve is decreased.

3. Compensatory phenomenon after body energy consumes during acute or chronic disease course.

4. Phenomenon of toxics or resisted metabolic function.

5. Compensatory phenomenon after violent sport or tiredness under serious press.

Notice the data is differentiated to differentiate symptom degree.

5. Autonomic Nerve Function Ratio

Because modern medicine cannot effectively use the kind of physical measurement method to understand diversified discomfort symptoms due to autonomic nerve disorder, people often ignore its importance or mistake its abnormality due to other factors. Body autonomic nerve function lies in regulating the work of smooth muscle, cardiac muscles, endocrine gland, blood vessel shrinkage, peristalsis of stomach and intestine, and so on, and has close relationship with working function of zang fu, so obstacles of autonomic nerve system function are very possible lead to broad abnormality of body function.

Data provided by Meridian Energy Analysis Device show autonomic nerve excited degree of the meridian. So the data can effectively measure autonomic nerve excited degree. Ratio of max of hand foot three Yin meridians and min of hand foot three Yang meridians can evaluate balancing degree of body autonomic nerve work.

There are many factors that can produce disorder of autonomic nerve. Commonly they are divided into internal factor (such as diseases of zang fu, internal secretion disorder) and exterior factor ( such as motional pressure, working pressure, tiredness and so on). Traditional medicine regards it as an unbalanced state that Qi (or Chi)and blood in part or whole of the body do not work well. Autonomic nerve disorder may be a pathology leading to discomfort, but it is difficult to distinguish the disorder from special symptoms in clinic diagnosis. We need to notice the data and consult with deficiency or excess syndrome of every meridian, as well as discomfort symptom that patient shows, so as to determine actual pathology.

The data has relationship with “spirit state ratio”. Abnormality of above/under Qi (or Chi)and blood ratio (spirit state) often leads to imbalance of autonomic nerve. So, please consult with these two data each other in differentiation.

[Read data rule]

Autonomic nerve system works well.                >=1.0~<=1.5

Autonomic nerve system has slight imbalance.         >=1.5~<=1.8

Autonomic nerve system has moderate imbalance.      >=1.8~<=2.1

Autonomic nerve system has clear imbalance.          >2.1

Chapter 12 Explanation of Analysis Graph

MA(TM) Meridian Energy Analysis Device series provides six analysis graphs in ME-Pro, four graphs in ME-100, two graphs in ME-20, namely 1.Analysis graph of Jing Luo excess-deficiency --bar diagram (complete series), 2.Analysis graph of Jing Luo excess-deficiency analysis--curve diagram (complete series), 3. Analysis graph of Jing Luo Yin-Yang (ME-Pro, ME-100), 4. Analysis graph of Jing Luo Qi-Blood (ME-Pro,ME-100), 5. Analysis graph of Jing Luo interpromotion of Five Elements (ME-Pro), 6. Analysis graph of Jing Luo interpromotion of Five Elements (ME-Pro). According to drawing rule and name explanation of every graph, we will let you know enough meaning of the functions that the above graphs represent in reading graphs.

1.    Analysis Graph of Jing Luo Excess-Deficiency - bar diagram

2. Analysis Graph of Jing Luo Excess-Deficiency Analysis --curve diagram

Data in above graph are the same in fact, just using two different representative forms - bar diagram and curve diagram. Graph mainly provides you with judgment about deficiency or excess syndrome of individual meridian. What’s called individual meridian indicates individual meridian excited degree of all the 24 left and right meridians. Energy data of every meridian are calculated into repairing data by formula, and then are expressed in graph. So you know exactly deficiency or excess syndrome of single meridian and can compare with related meridians easily.

If you choose a particular type of graph to show or list according to your own habit, the two graphs have no difference when used. In view of clinic reading habit and data reading habit, we advise you to use the first graph- Analysis graph of Jing Luo excess-deficiency - bar diagram, because it can provide more clear and specific reading circumstances.

The two analysis graphs are the main rule of single meridian differentiation in clinic use.

3.Analysis Graph of Jing Luo Inter promotion of Five Elements

Traditional medicine has very intensive study on working mode of interpromotion and inter-inhibition in Five Elements- wood, fire, earth, gold, water. Through graph of interpromotion of Five Elements we can know related meridian influence on root meridian, and we will own more referenced resource when the graph is used in clinic differentiation.

4. Analysis Graph of Jing Luo Yin-Yang

Analysis graph of Jing Luo Yin-Yang describes data of every point mainly by adding meridian energy of left and right related Jing Luo, then compares the data with energy data of its related external and internal meridian. So you can consult two kinds of related data in the graph:

1. Because data of every point is added by meridian energy of left and right related meridians, you can find out deficiency and excess syndrome of left and right related meridians in the graph. It should be noticed that deficiency and excess syndrome provided here is in “holistic” state (for example, left and right Kidney Meridian) from adding left and right meridian, and is different from “separate” meridian in above graph1 and graph2. We can first see deficiency and excess syndrome of left and right separate meridian in graph1 and graph2 when reading, then consult with holistic state listed in this graph, and then more elaborate differentiation information is provided by above data in clinic using.

2.When data of left and right related to Yin Zang or Yang Fu is added and shown in this graph, you can judge Yin Yang Qi-Blood balancing state of this external and internal meridian through reading energy date gap between Yin Zang and Yang Fu.

For example, in the place of Water property in Five Elements in the graph, we add Bladder Meridian of left and right side and read ratio between this data and data of Kidney Meridian of left and right side. Please consult with graph analysis explanation about analysis mode in the latter half of this chapter.

Beside deficiency and excess syndrome of single meridian, corresponding state of holistic meridian data and its external-internal meridian should still be considered in meridian differentiation. So you can have more information to do more thorough differentiation in clinic using. This graph is a very important tool in holistic differentiation of meridian energy. Please make sure to know its reading mode and use it properly.

Under balanced Qi-Blood state of external and internal meridian, their ratio is not very possible to have big difference. Too big of differences of the data shows that external and internal meridians are under unbalanced state of Qi-Blood conflict. The difference will be labeled clearly in graph and analysis data.

5.Analysis Graph of Jing Luo Qi-Blood

In analysis graph of Jing Luo Qi-Blood, data of external and internal meridian of left and right sides are separately added, the ratio between them can help us know Qi-Blood state of external and internal meridians in the whole body. This ratio is different from that of deficiency or excess syndrome of related meridian in the other three analysis graphs. In this graph, we need to notice Qi-Blood state of homonymic external and internal meridians of left and right sides.

For example, in the place of Wood property in Five Elements in the graph, we add data of Liver Meridian and Gallbladder Meridian of the left side, in the same way add that of the right side, and read ratio between the two data. Under balanced Qi-Blood state, their ratio is not very possible to have big difference. Too large of a difference of the data shows that external and internal meridian related with Wood of the left and right sides are under unbalanced state of Qi-Blood conflict. The difference will be labeled clearly in graph and analysis data.

Because the data of every point is added by external and internal meridian of the left or right sides, differentiation emphasis of this graph is balanced degree of qi-blood of external and internal meridian of the left and right sides. We cannot differentiate deficiency or excess syndrome of twelve Jing Luo from this graph.

Reflected from clinic use, reading mode of graph1 and graph2 commonly has no problem, while graph3 and graph4 have difficulty in clinic reading and using. In all previous proseminars, we found that sticking point is due to a lack of education and training and differentiation resource is not full in operation menu of all previous editions. At the time of general correcting of the menu, we explain analysis mode of graph through more words and more details so as to provide you more reading data.

In fact, in differentiation outline of Meridian Energy Analysis Device, graph3 and graph4 are very important information of clinic differentiation. It is because in Good Conducted Meridian Diagnosis and Treat Subject balance state of qi-blood between related meridians is also very important differentiation gist other than deficiency or excess syndrome between related meridians. In this system, the above balance degree and syndrome is the main differentiation tool to provide this kind of information.

If you cannot use reading mode of these two graphs, many important symptoms will be lost about body energy of the object! So when reading the description, we hope you can consult with all data in analysis graph according to the description, and you must be totally familiar with analysis and reading method. We believe it will provide you very useful help in clinic differentiation.

Chapter 13  Important Consulting Data of Traditional Medicine

In the following graphs, important consulting data are listed, mainly about meridian differentiation in traditional medicine. To professional people, it can be used as suggestive data in clinic diagnosis and treatment. If you are a user contacting meridian energy diagnosis and treatment just now, you can memorize these key points and use it as reference.

In these graphs, graph1: Meaning of Yin Yang Deficiency Excess lists term explanation of the most important Yin Yang Deficiency Excess in Eight Outline Differentiation of traditional medicine.

Graph2: Consulting table of cold hot deficiency excess of every syndrome lists deficiency and excess appearance and judging reference of ten kinds of syndromes.

Graph3: Syndrome of Yin Yang lists kinds of body, physiological and spirit appearance in Yin Yang.

Graph4: Summary table of the Five Shu points-lists the Five Shu points of every meridian for you to consult in clinic use.

In [graph5: Summary table], [regulating point of meridian energy] in every diagram lists [excited point] and [inhibitory point] of every meridian. Explanation follows:

1.Excited point: When the meridian is in deficiency syndrome or lack of energy state, acupuncturing or pressing the point with finger can improve excited degree of the meridian.

2.Inhibitory point: When the meridian is in excess syndrome or excess energy state, acupuncturing or pressing the point with finger can decrease excited degree of the meridian.

Ensuring there is no problem, try to restart the computer after turning on the power of the meridian energy analysis device.

5. I have connected the printer correctly, but the printer can’t work out the report forms or it prints out a heap of wrong codes.

Please check the setups of printer of the windows system and check whether the drive program of the printer is put up or you choose the wrong drive program not matching the printer. Because this is the problem of setups of your computer, please contact your computer supplier after careful check.

6. When printing, the letter printed is not distinct or the printer works out nothing although the printer is working

Perhaps the ribbon or ink of the printer runs out, write down the type of your printer(such as EPSON Stylus 800 or Canon BJC 4550) and go to a common computer shop to buy some.

7. When going to print the report forms, the information of “Connecting line of the printer is wrong” is echoed on the screen of the computer.

Maybe the power of the printer isn’t turned on, or the signal line at the back of printer got loose.

8. My computer has only two RS-233 interfaces, one has connected with a mouse, the other has connected with the data machine, so there is no place to connect with the meridian energy analysis device!

The ways to resolve this problem are as follows: 1.See if there is a PS-2 mouse interface in your computer, if there is one, you can buy a mouse with PS-2 interface to connect with your computer, and so there can be a RS-233 left. 2. You can buy an expansion board with four RS-233 interfaces. If the problem can’t be resolved with ways listed above at present, you can pull out the interface of the data machine, and connect with the meridian energy analysis device for the moment.

** The first way is advisable.

9. When executing meridian diagnosis or point detection system, the analyzer can’t work normally when the probe contacts the patient (such as not operating, beeping and the data sometimes not echoed)

A.     When the excited degree is too low (lower than the minimum measuring reaction value) and the analyzer can’t start the measuring function, we can: 1. adjust the minimum measuring reaction value downwards or 2. adjust the setting of measuring potential and change into high potential, so we can measure normally (i.e. extending measurement, please refer to illumination related)

B.     Check the cotton part of the probe, find out whether it is full of cotton, whether the dampness is insufficient and whether the cotton is not moistened with salt water. If the cotton contacting is not tight enough or the dampness is insufficient, it may cause difficulty in reading the data. In clinic experiment, especially in winter or dry continent climate, it is easy to meet the state listed above, please refer to the illumination of notice before measuring.

C.     The analyzer suppresses interference of the environment with screened circuit, if some part of the patient or measurer contacts with the earth, wall or metal desk and chair, it may cause big interference and the measuring error. When the analyzer detects these interfering conditions, it will close off automatically and stop collecting data until the interference is suppressed. The detailed illumination is in chapter two of the notice before measuring, please refer to it.

If the problem is not included as above, please check the probe plug at the back of the analyzer to ensure correct splicing and rolling tight, and then contact the metal parts at the end of the probes to see whether the measuring function can be start. If it can be started, please repeat according to the points listed above to reconfirm.

10.      The data displayed overflow the screen and couldn’t be moved back at the first time  operating the analyzer, so I can’t see all the data in the visual window.

The meridian energy analysis device requires that the resolution of the screen should be more than 800600 256 color. This resolution model is also necessary for a primary computer. If you meet this problem, it is because the resolution of your computer is lower than the requirement (such as 640480) which causes data display incomplete. Reset the resolution of your computer and it will be OK.

Some old note computer can’t support the model of 800600, please ensure and adjust again.

If it is possible, we advise that you set the resolution of the computer to be 1024768, this is the best model for operating the meridian energy analysis device and it is the common model used in the research center of our corporation.

11. Though everything is normal in the past, suddenly we can’t enter the system program and so we can’t administer the analyzer. “Program fault” is displayed on the screen.

This is caused by the instability of the Windows system, perhaps you have loaded too many other application programs on the computer. Please restart the computer in normal turn, if the problem still exist, it is time to clear up the windows environment. Unload the unnecessary program from Windows, and then this problem should be resolved.

12. When operating extensive measurement or automatic calibration, the instrument should turn to high potential, but it can’t be turn to the high potential, and the function of standard potential is normal.

The meridian energy analysis device requires very stable power, if the quality of power is not very good, we may meet this condition. Generally the power of instrument is connected with the computer and the instrument shares the power with the computer, you can try to use a separate power for the computer, do not share one plug with other electrical appliances.

Meeting any states you can’t resolve yourself, please write down the program you operated, the data displayed on the screen (or information of fault) and the condition you met, and notify the client service department of our corporation or the nearest dealer or service station to help you resolve your problems.

Appendix B Cruces in differentiating syndrome

Cruces in differentiating syndrome of the meridian energy analysis device

Familiar cases and data in the application in clinic of the analyzer are embodied in this chapter, and you can inquire conveniently.

1.      High average body energy means that activity or primordial Qi (or Chi)is abundant. If it is less than 19, it is necessary to pay attention to the possibility of chronic diseases.

2.      If the qi-blood ratio of the upper to the lower is less than 0.9, it means reducing mental activity (languid, scatterbrained).

3.      If the qi-blood ratio of the upper to the lower is more than 1.15, it means mental stress and difficulty in falling asleep.

4.      If the musculoskeletal ratio of the left to the right is less than 0.8 or more than 1.2, it means disorder of the musculoskeletal activity(musculoskeletal soreness)

5.      If the metabolism ratio of yin to yang is less than 0.8, it means increasing metabolic function, and there may be inflammation or endocrinal disorder.

6.      If the metabolism ratio of yin to yang is more than 1.15, it means decreasing metabolic function, and there may be fatigue or influence on metabolic function of chronic disease.

7.      If the ratio of the automatic nerve is more than 2.1, it means obvious symptoms of disorder of automatic nerve.

8.      If there is abnormal reaction of meridian (such as excess, deficiency or one is excess and the other is deficiency), the cause may be the abnormal function of zang-fu or abnormality of certain part along the course of the meridian.

9.      If both meridians of the left and the right have the reaction of excess or deficiency, it is relative to the abnormal function of zang-fu.

10.    If in the meridians of the left and the right one is excess and the other is deficiency, it is relative to the abnormality of some parts along the course of the meridian and disorder of the automatic nerve.

11.    As the meridian is abnormal, we should pay attention to not only the symptoms of the disease meridian but also the reaction of the related meridian such as the exterior-interior meridian.

12.    Deficiency of the Lung Meridian means decreasing immune function of the skin and respiratory system.

13.    Excess of the Lung Meridian and deficiency of the Liver Meridian mean the liability of rectocele.

14.    When the Lung Meridian and Large Intestine Meridian are abnormal, we should pay attention to the symptoms of cold (such as respiratory infection and rhinitis), abnormality of skin and inflammation.

15.    When the Lung Meridian, Sanjiao Meridian, Large Intestine Meridian, Spleen Meridian and Gallbladder Meridian are abnormal, we should pay attention to hypersensitive symptoms of the respiratory tract.

16.    Excess of the Heart Meridian and deficiency of the Large Intestine mean the liability of constipation.

17.    Excess of the Heart Meridian and deficiency of the Spleen Meridian mean the liability of constipation and diarrhea (especially diarrhea).

19.    When the Heart Meridian and Pericardium Meridian are abnormal, it is necessary to pay attention to the changes of the function of the heart.

20.    The abnormality of the Heart Meridian and Small Intestine Meridian means the symptoms of bad circulation of qi-blood(such as chest pain, oppression of the chest)
