Spirulina is a great source of minerals and trace elements in a natural organic form. It contains virtually all trace elements and minerals, but in very small amounts ... the way your body was designed to receive these nutrients I might add.
RBC Spirulina is manufactured by Cyanotech Corporation and is the best available in the world. You can take a look at their corporate website at http://www.cyanotech.com. The original retail brand from them is called Nutrex Spirulina Pacifica. Even though RBC uses the superior Cyanotech strain, it is inferior to the original brand for one simple reason. Cyanotech has shown that if powder/tablets are stored in plastic containers, nearly 40% of all the beta- carotenes will oxidize in less than a month! Spirulina should always be stored in sealed amber/cyan colored glass bottles, where no light or air will destroy the delicate nutrients. After opening, cyanotech prescribes that the bottle is stored in the freezer to slw down the oxidation process. All of this is documented in the book "Spirulina, Nature's Superfood". I think it is weird that Christopher Hills would choose inferior plastic bottles. I have just contacted RBC about this and hope they will change the packaging in the near future.
